Chillington Hall is a magnificent Georgian country house near to the village of Brewood, Staffordshire, and four miles northwest of Wolverhampton. It is situated close to the M6 and M54 motorways, and just 30 minutes away from Birmingham airport.
Chillington Hall is available for weddings, conferences, corporate activities and small outdoor events. It offers use of the house for entertaining guests, location for a marquee in the gardens, access to the lake and space for other country pursuits. The Hall has been home to the Giffard family for more than 800 years, with the present owner being the 29th Giffard to live there.
The estate dates back to 1178, with the present house sitting in 1100 acres of park, lake and woodland landscaped by ‘Capability Brown’. It has historical links with many esteemed people including William the conqueror, Elizabeth I and Charles II, with the current building attributed to the architect Sir John Soane.
The long avenue of oak trees on the east side of the house formed the original driveway and now allows special guests a grand entrance to the estate. Once inside the Hall, you are met with fine antiques and portraits, Italian plasterwork and a beautiful stained glass window above the main staircase. The Saloon is the impressive centre-piece to the building with its domed ceiling and huge stone fireplace. From 2009 the hall will be available for Civil Ceremonies and a marquee will be provided within the garden area for your reception.
