Originally built in 1535 during the reign of King Henry VIII for John Steede a local Yeoman, the house has had many owners including Sir Thomas Estcourt, a wealthy wool merchant of the period. Since becoming a hotel in 1974, the Close Hotel has developed a reputation for excellence in hospitality by creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Why hold your Wedding at The Close Hotel ? The Close Hotel has its own beautiful private chapel which is ideal for your ceremony and adds solemnity to your very special occasion. This privately owned venue, with its professional team of staff on hand to help and advise you with your event before, during and after, will ensure that personal excellent service comes as standard. The Close has two luxurious rooms licensed to hold your wedding ceremony. The Garden Room with its splendid Adams Ceiling can hold 40 guests. The setting offers views overlooking our immaculate stone walled garden with a central fountain and pond. The Overbury Suite was the original chapel for The Close when it was a private residence. With many of the original characteristics still intact it makes a very special venue for your ceremony. The room can hold up to 85.
