Asylum

A new and cutting edge venue..

Asylum

We recently had a really lovely evening at Asylum, Caroline Gardens in Peckham (South East London and the new Shoreditch according to those in the know!). The Asylum is actually a Georgian chapel in the heart of London's largest complex of arms houses. Despite being called an asylum, the Grade II listed site was not a home for lunatics; instead the word was used in its older sense, meaning 'sanctuary'. It suffered considerable damage in World War 2 but amazingly its incredible stained glass windows, and fascinating collection of carved stone monuments, remain intact.

Recently it has been used for films sets and as an arts space, and now is also available for weddings. Its rawness is part of its charm, and with the sun streaming through the stained glass windows is both evocative and romantic. We'll be putting up more info on the site very soon, but in the meantime if you are interested in Asylum as a wedding venue then contact the lovely Dido or Jo - they can be reached on 07796 684 834 or 07947 819 597 or email themon This email address is being protected from spambots.
