The Isle du Guesclin is a rare gem of a destination situated on the Brittany coast of France. It boasts an authentic ten bedroom house on top of an historic rock island fort, rich in history from the surrounding area of St Colomb and St Malo. The private grounds and buildings are well kept and offer the perfect getaway for those seeking an unusual and unforgettable wedding. The island is completely self-sustainable and can accomodate events of up to 300 people. The ideal situation of the island enables land crossings during low-tide or a short boat ride or swim during high-tides.
This island has been a military fortress since the 12th century and picturesque ruins are remaining in the garden. What has once been a modest building to house the ten soldiers has been transformed and extended over the last two centuries into a two store residence with rooms to sleep up to 15-20 people comfortably, with amazing views over the sea. The house retains its medieval character whilst also offering spacious accommodation, making it the perfect place for a romantic wedding.
Close by there is a 500m long beach, and there is also a small private beach just metres away from the doorstep, both of which are available to the whole wedding party.
The Island is the perfect place for a wedding (from 20 to 300 people) and the business manager Sarah Grigg is happy to provide a wide range of services, from stay-in chefs through to comprehensive event management & logistics. The Isle du Guesclin is available for weddings (both catered and self-catered options), functions and honeymoons. Prices are seasonal and dependant on the intended use.
