Denton Hall

A Wedding Experience

Denton Hall

And if you're a bride-to-be in the North of England (Yorkshire to be precise!) then don't miss out on the 'Wedding Experience' on Sunday 11 March 2012 (in their words 'a day of champagne and canapes with all the very best suppliers in one stunning venue' - sounds goood to us!!).

Denton Hall is one of our newer venues on the site but already we love it. Crystal chandeliers, spiralling staircases and exquisite 18th century decor blend efortlessly to create one of Yorkshire's most beautiful settings.

Hengrave Hall Part Two!

Further info on their wedding open day

Hengrave Hall Part Two!

Last week we gave you an early heads upabout Hengrave Hall's Wedding Viewing Day, to be held on 25 March 2012.  Here are some more images from this historic mansion which also has its own very charming church.  We think it looks idyllic!  If you are thinking of getting married in Suffolk or its environs do not miss this event, it really will give you a great idea of how your wedding could be, and it's completely free!  Worth knowing too that they have 16 fab bedrooms available, so you and your guests (or some of them anyway!) can extend your day by staying the night.

Featured Venue: South London Gallery

London wedding venue

South London Gallery London Wedding VenueIf you’re looking for a venue of distinction for your London wedding then you should definitely pay a visit to the South London Gallery which offers a distinctive and unique setting for private functions, receptions and corporate events.

We went there recently and were treated to a private tour by events manager Georgina Davey and assistant Liz, who not only gave us some great details about the building’s amazing history (it opened in 1891 and was conceived as a ‘free gallery for the people of South London, which it still continues to be) but also took us round the Victorian main gallery with its beautiful high ceilings. Together with the contemporary design of the gallery’s new extension, they offer a range of spaces for many types of events. Regarded as one of the most elegant art spaces in London, the Main Gallery is only available to hire on occasional days and evenings throughout the year. This is the space where artists such as Tracey Emin launched their careers and with capacity for 150 seated and 200 standing, the main gallery is an ideal space for a wedding or civil partnership reception, awards ceremony, photo shoot, fully catered dinner or Christmas party. We were taken through a windy path through the centre of Victorian-designed garden, up to the Clore Studio which opened in June 2010 and has capacity for 60 people. This is great space - its contemporary skylight and fully pivoting doors into the gallery’s rear garden make this fresh, light and airy, and entirely suitable for an urban wedding. We loved the juxtaposition of the old and new elements which run throughout the whole building – a mix of old floorboards and rickety carpentry rubbing shoulders with clean modern lines.

There is a further space – the stunning Double Height Room in the gallery's' new extension which overlooks the beautiful Fox Garden. The upper walls of this space currently display artist Paul Morrison’s exquisite gold leaf work Asplenium. This would be great for an intimate wedding with capacity for 18 seated or perhaps a small champagne reception. One of the great beauties about SLG is that you can customise your use of the spaces. Georgina Davey is flexible and can accommodate most requests and will also recommend SLG’s accredited caterers. We urge to visit this gem in South London – and do take a look at the café where we had a delicious lunch after our visit!

Featured Yorkshire Venue: Crow Hill

Yorkshire wedding venue

Wedding Venue Crow HillWhen you are planning that stunning once in a lifetime event, you will want a setting that is not just a blank backdrop to the flowers and champagne, but an exquisitely dressed stage that will make your big day unforgettable. Your venue should not shrink into the background, but play a major role at your party. It should offer character, history and beauty. It should put your guests at their ease, and encourage them to stroll, mingle and talk. It should be the starting point for beautiful memories that will linger long after everyone has departed. For that, you need an exceptional location – Crow Hill.

Crow Hill dates back some 200 years and was a former mill owner's country house. Set on the edge of the National Trust Marsden Moor Estate, with the most dramatic and breathtaking Yorkshire moorland scenery around the whole house. Legendary house guests at Crow Hill include General William Booth, founder of the Salvation Army and the composer Vaughan Williams. Crow Hill, a quintessential English country house with 6 bedrooms, 3 double, 2 twin and 1 single & the Tower Suite, Crow Hill sleeps 13 guests. The elegant Drawing Room with open fire, period Conservatory, The Red Dining Room and kitchen all have period features to die for! Gardens and private grounds, including a Croquet Lawn for marquees.

A wedding at Crow Hill is a unique experience. The formal gardens and fine views across the Pennines and the National Trust Marsden Moor ensure the wedding photography will provide the most beautiful and dramatic pictures of your big day. Whatever the season we can provide that exclusive setting at an affordable price.

Crow Hill is not a hotel. Being a private residence, and reserved solely for your exclusive use, enables you to never worry about mingling with guests other than your own party. Furthermore, we never host more than one wedding per weekend or at any other time and if you also book The Cottage and The Lodge, 25 wedding guests in total can stay on the estate and feel completely at home.

Weddings at Crow Hill have exclusive use of the house and grounds for 1. 2 or 3 days, for example, arriving on Friday and departing on the Monday, creating a relaxed and memorable experience, rather than a few hours in an anonymous hotel environment.
