ANdAZ

If you’re having a wedding day dilemma and can’t decide which venue to choose for your special day then take a look at our featured “Venue of the Month” which not only offers photos and information to help you make your choice but also features photos from a real-live wedding within the venue itself. ANdAZ Liverpool Street, formerly the Great Eastern Hotel, has recently undergone a significant renovation to become a fantastic sumptuous venue. Venue Photo Andaz Hotel

Located in the heart of London’s City area, it was re-launched on November 16th 2007 and is one of the first hotels to be re-branded and re-launched under the ANdAZ brand. Despite its heritage - the building itself dates back to 1884 and is rich in historical architecture - it fuses a five-star offering with a boutique, modern design-inspired product.

Newly-engaged couples who are seeking the ultimate luxury wedding venue in a stylish and contemporary setting need look no further as ANdAZ offers a complete wedding package for both the bride and groom and their guests.

Using their wedding planners, you can opt for a full wedding planning service tailored to meet your heart’s desire. The three different wedding packages are available on their website and cover off all the main wedding features including flowers, cake, photography, entertainment and catering. But ANdAZ is also happy to offer a more specific package if you have your own ideas or requests.

The hotel itself features 14 very different but equally spectacular event spaces in which to share the day with your guests. You may have a very large wedding party and opt for the Great Eastern Room and Gallery which is the most substantial room on offer. Architecturally inspired by the New York’s Guggenheim Museum it is contemporary in style and creates a bright and spacious atmosphere for your wedding.Venue Image AndazChef Andaz

You may be considering a more select group of guests, in which case the Temple room offers a very different wedding experience, being much smaller in size, although no less impressive. Originally the City of London Freemason’s Masonic Hall, it is rich in history and dates back to 1864. In fitting with the era it is bedecked with rare and priceless marble, architecturally significant features and has imposing moveable thrones to complement your special day.

One of the fantastic features about ANdAZ weddings is that they offer complimentary suites for the bride and groom as part of the package, and will also offer reduced room rates for those of your guests who wish to stay at the hotel with you. Great fun for the bride and her bridesmaids!

If you feel excited by what ANdAZ has to offer then you can make an enquiry via their listing on FWV or enquire about availability and their wedding planning service by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Featured Venue: South London Gallery

London wedding venue

South London Gallery London Wedding VenueIf you’re looking for a venue of distinction for your London wedding then you should definitely pay a visit to the South London Gallery which offers a distinctive and unique setting for private functions, receptions and corporate events.

We went there recently and were treated to a private tour by events manager Georgina Davey and assistant Liz, who not only gave us some great details about the building’s amazing history (it opened in 1891 and was conceived as a ‘free gallery for the people of South London, which it still continues to be) but also took us round the Victorian main gallery with its beautiful high ceilings. Together with the contemporary design of the gallery’s new extension, they offer a range of spaces for many types of events. Regarded as one of the most elegant art spaces in London, the Main Gallery is only available to hire on occasional days and evenings throughout the year. This is the space where artists such as Tracey Emin launched their careers and with capacity for 150 seated and 200 standing, the main gallery is an ideal space for a wedding or civil partnership reception, awards ceremony, photo shoot, fully catered dinner or Christmas party. We were taken through a windy path through the centre of Victorian-designed garden, up to the Clore Studio which opened in June 2010 and has capacity for 60 people. This is great space - its contemporary skylight and fully pivoting doors into the gallery’s rear garden make this fresh, light and airy, and entirely suitable for an urban wedding. We loved the juxtaposition of the old and new elements which run throughout the whole building – a mix of old floorboards and rickety carpentry rubbing shoulders with clean modern lines.

There is a further space – the stunning Double Height Room in the gallery's' new extension which overlooks the beautiful Fox Garden. The upper walls of this space currently display artist Paul Morrison’s exquisite gold leaf work Asplenium. This would be great for an intimate wedding with capacity for 18 seated or perhaps a small champagne reception. One of the great beauties about SLG is that you can customise your use of the spaces. Georgina Davey is flexible and can accommodate most requests and will also recommend SLG’s accredited caterers. We urge to visit this gem in South London – and do take a look at the café where we had a delicious lunch after our visit!
