This is a personal favourite of ours!  And for good reason as we stay here every year when we go to the Hay-on-Wye Literary Festival. Not only do they do weddings, but this is a fantastic venue for your Stag or Hen night (and we have seen them in action here!), particularly as it is steeped in history.  This stunning building, built in 1839 as the Baskerville's family home, is set in over 130 acres of Welsh countryside overlooking the River Wye and Brecon Beacons.  Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, author of the book Hound of the Baskervilles, was a lover of this grand property and would return on many occasions. His book was inspired from the time he spent here. You may even catch a glimpse of the 'White Lady' who is regularly 

We just love this venue so much and think it is probably one of the most romantic and beautiful places to get married.  Temple Island is situated a mile and half downstream of the picturesque market town of Henley-on-Thames and marks the start of the famous Royal Regatta course  Built in 1771, the temple itself is a delightful folly and its interior is based on designs which had been discovered in Pompeii.  The island is approached by boat (how cool would that be for your wedding party!) and up to 120 people can enjoy an al fresco party. Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of F Scott Fiztgerald's classic tale of love and ambition in 1920s Long Island hasn't even hit the big screen yet but already Great Gatsby fever is sweeping the nation.  In London's Soho and Shoreditch speakeasy-style bars are springing up faster than you can say 'mine's a gimlet'.  One of our lovely venues, Claridges, has now launched Charleston lessons for would-be flappers (and those of you wishing to 'flap' your way through your first wedding dance!!) in its elegant ballroom - go here for more info. The Lake District is rightly famed for its romantic landscape and amazing views and Linthwaite, with its spectacular views over Windermere and its beautiful mountain landscape, is in a heavenly spot. Sam grew up not far from the Lake District and remembers the stunning beauty of this area. Linthwaite is set in 14 acres of private secluded gardens (so no ramblers to disturb your wedding photos!) and offers the exclusive use of the entire country hotel to create an enchanting house party atmosphere (you don't have to have the whole hotel if you don't want to, though!).
