Hen parties don't have to be all about booze, L plates and male strippers. Fine if that's your thing - and it is plenty of peoples. But increasingly women are looking for an alternative experience. As we all know, yoga weekends generally, are becoming more and more popular and therefore the idea of having one with all your best girlfriends and very definitely jettisoning the shiny sash for a yoga mat, makes perfect sense.
Poundon House is one of our loveliest venues and one which we have always admired. A private family home, it was built at the turn of the century by a follower of Lutyens in the Palladian style and is approached up an avenue of lime trees. The wonderful team there now offer yoga retreats a few times a year. To call them special is an understatement, just read this description of how your day would be:
'Spend your morning in quiet meditation with only birdsong to disturb, an indulgent afternoon soaking in a scented bath or curled up in the library. Then, after a candle-lit dinner, toast your rejuvenating limbs by the Drawing Room's roaring open fire.'
Of course it doesn't have to be a hen weekend; it can be simply a well-being weekend or a pre wedding retreat just for yourself or perhaps mother and daughter time together. Whatever you choose, you will feel rested and refreshed and ready for the wedding.
The Big Wedding Weekend has been going for several years now and so far over one hundred couples have tide the knot at the iconic grade 1 listed Royal Festival Hall. We absolutely love the idea of this - it's perfect for couples on a budget or who have recently got engaged and haven't got time to organise a summer wedding, but really want one! They have two packages - (1st is only £2450, 2nd is £3450) - unbelievably reasonable and unheard of to have the opportunity to marry on the Southbank with view of the Thames at an affordable cost.
We have several pretty wonderfully unusual wedding venues on the site and these are four of my absolute favourites. The main picture is of Brunel's ss Great Britain, a beautiful ship in the heart of Bristol's harbourside. The whole ship is available for exclusive hire, you can say your vows on the Promenade Deck underneath the beautiful skylight, before moving to the grand First Class Dining Saloon for your wedding breakfast....

Eeva and paul made a stunning effort adding their personal touch to the venue, and the enthusiasm of the guy running the place was very infectious! He was extremely accommodating and ensured everything was running smoothly from start to finish. Venue Website
