One of my most favourite shows in recent times has come to an end, so please let's keep Don Draper alive by dreaming about a Mad Men themed wedding.... If I had my time again, I'm pretty sure I would have gone for this. It's super glamorous, fun, retro without the bunting, and the cocktails are to die for!
Look at those outfits!
There is no shortage of inspiration for this theme - pinterest is particularly good for fabulous ideas. But one thing it doesn't include is a venue, and I think we have the ideal one for a Mad Men style wedding. That venue is the London Hilton, Park Lane
I've only ever been to one wedding on a pier. It was my cousin Harry, who married the beautiful Holly on Southwold Pier nearly 8 years ago. It was a truly lovely affair and I have always been drawn to Pier Weddings ever since. We've got an absolutely fabulous one listed on the site, and it's big!
Grand Pier in Weston Super Mare was orginally opened in 1904
It doesn't look like this anymore - it burnt down completely a few years ago, so this building is brand new and marvellous, offering number of versatile rooms suitable for civil ceremonies, wedding breakfasts and evening receptions. The panoramic views, as you would image, are breathtaking.
We write a lot about very grand venues, sweeping staircases and opulant surroundings but one of our absolute favourite types of wedding venue a rural rustic one - and if that is actually a farm, then so much the better! 'Farm weddings' can take place in any season and we love that they bring a natural, earthy and simplicity style to a wedding - or not.... Because obviously it's up to you how far you go with this theme. (Wild West anyone?). There are plenty of inspirational Farm wedding boards on Pinerest and Etsy is awash with lovely objects to buy to make your Farm Wedding perfect. However, you do at least need a field... and preferably a barn or such like. Here are three gorgeous venues for the ultimate rustic farm weddding...
Pictured at the top is South Farm, located on the Cambridgeshire/Hertfordshire borders yet only 50 minutes from London, it is a lovingly restored Grade II listed country house. South Farm is set in 20 acres of landscaped grounds and beautiful gardens surrounded by a smallholding, the main house adjoins a courtyard of lovingly restored timber framed barns, granaries and stables.
How beautiful are these caravans??
Love these flowers in a Milk Urn. I was brought up in the country and although have now lived in London for more years than I care to remember, in my heart the country girl still lives on - maybe thats why I love these types of weddings so much... Farbridge in West Sussex (set on edge of the South Downs) has the most beautifully restored barns, perfect for making your Farm wedding.
The Most Curious Wedding Fair is most definitely our favourite wedding show. Because they handpick their exhibitors, you really are getting the best of the very best of what is beautiful, creative and new. In their own words, they 'look for those vendors who are simply drawing inspiration from contemporary and directional lifestyle, fashion and design trends to produce products and services perfect for the discerning but expressive and fun-lovong bride and groom.'
These images taken at previous fairs, surely speak for themselves?? If you are looking for innovative and bespoke wedding ideas, we urge any London couples to get down to Brick Lane this weekend. You cannot fail to be inspired and at the same time, you will without doubt have a very good time!
Apart from the amazing selection of exhibitors you will also experience originl fashion shows, hair and make-up pamper area and seated refeshment area...The Curious Wedding Fair
